More About Grindhouse

Grindhouse was really not necessary. If you think about it, the concept of the Grindhouse never really went away. Each week our cineplexes are filled with crappy, disposable, exploitation junk; junk that I readily buy tickets to, I admit. So what is this nostalgia for the past when the past is still the present. To succeed, the Grindhouse movies by Tarantino and company would've had to be head and shoulders above the current crop of Grindhouse films; The Hills Have Eyes 2, Disturbia, Perfect Stranger, The Reaping, Shooter, Pathfinder, Slow Burn, Red Line, etc.

And another thing, Grindhouse has completely died in its second weekend; it won't even be in the top 10. This indicates, to me, that positive word of mouth for this film just ain't happening.

PS I am sooooo excited to see Perfect Stranger and Disturbia.

Hmmm... i kind of want to see Grindhouse just for the excessive gore, although i'm not much of tarantino fan... i thought Kill Bill was a completely unnecessary film. similarly, short bus is also a pretty unnecessary film, were it not redeemed by its excessive sex scenes. strangely, i'm more interested in seeing the gore, but i appreciated the sex too. i suspect i'll be similarly entertained but ultimately disappointed with it as well.

btw, "... died in its second weekend" Does grammar girl cover the difference between it's and its?

Love the new format!
