Oceanside Sex

I just found this story about my new hometown! It's a few years old but it intrigued me. Enjoy!

Oceanside mayor demands redress from TV's Oprah

OCEANSIDE ---- Mayor Jim Wood has asked television star Oprah Winfrey to recant her "irresponsible portrayal of Oceanside as a hub of 'child sex slavery'."

In a letter dated Nov. 14, Wood takes exception to an installment of the Oprah Winfrey Show that aired Nov. 2. The show, which focused on worldwide human trafficking and prostitution, featured an interview with Florida-based television reporter Michele Gillian, who reportedly went undercover and discovered a brothel made of bamboo reeds in Oceanside where young girls were "forced to have sex on dirt floors with as many as 40 men a day," according to Oprah's official Web site.

"I am offended that it has been portrayed that the City of Oceanside is the hub of this terrible activity," wrote Wood, who could not be reached Monday for comment.

The mayor added in his letter that the city's police department examined the video footage used in Gillian's report and found it to be from January 2000 and December 2001.

"The narrator in the film footage indicates that the location is in Vista, California," Wood wrote.

North County has recently found itself in the national spotlight due to its ongoing problems with migrant sex trafficking.

An article in the January 2004 issue of the New York Times Magazine portrayed Vista as a hub for crime rings that force young girls into prostitution. Reports in the North County Times and other publications have detailed the efforts of the San Diego County Sheriff's Office to bust the illegal camps, including one on the banks of the San Luis Rey River. Reports indicated the camp was in unincorporated San Diego County, not Oceanside.

Neither Winfrey nor anyone from her show could be reached for comment Monday.

The mayor expressed his displeasure that the outdoor brothel footage from five years ago would be juxtaposed with present-day footage of Oceanside.

"In place of the location, your staff has placed current footage of City of Oceanside monuments, homes and beach front views, while you state 'in places like Oceanside, police discovered an outdoor brothel,'" Wood wrote. "On your program you introduced the footage without mention of the time and date. The viewer is left with the impression that the footage is current and the problem is ongoing."

You Go, Mayor Jim Wood, Congratulations on having the fortitude to take on "Her Highness" and Company. All too often the news media and "entertainment" tend to forget to "Just Get The Facts, Mam." in their constant quest for the outrageous

Present day footage might not show brothels, but it will show the drug dealers and homeless people living in the wooded areas along the bike path. My friends and I are too nervous to ride alone - what a shame. Perhaps Oprah's out of date report will be the catalyst for a much needed clean up this area.

If the beef people in Taxas didn't get a sorry from Oprah, does Jim Wood seriously think that he'll get one from the billion dollar star? NO!!!!

Get over it Jim!!! Don't take the media so seriously. In any event it might slow the mass migration to the coast, just a little.

Oceanside - Please Don't Recant! Hooray for you on bringing what so many in Oceanside know into the public eye. Shame on Jim Woods, the Mayor, for denying it. As a former police office he is well aware of what goes on in Oceanside. If you should speak to him about it ask him to comment on "Uncle Don" the porno king in town who shot a porn movie in opening up at same city hall and fountains that you showed on your show - featuring six local Marines and one young girl. Ask him to comment on "the bush" or the back gate at Pendleton. The "public" outcry denying these allegations are from the city officials local businesses that have been promised riches to change laws, side deals and try to turn Oceanside into a Del Mar or La Jolla. Their fear is these comments will thwart all their efforts. The real residents of Oceanside live there for many reasons - one is that it is one of the last small coastal towns in Southern California where you can get an ice cream cone and watch the sunset, build a bonfire on the beach, find a parking spot or listen to a concert right at the beach. It's such a shame that the powers of Oceanside are sacrificing the charm of the city to get rich quick when they could turn downtown into something wonderful and profitable but they just don't know how. Your comments have all of them scared and good for you! There is a horrendous problem with homeless youth, prostitution and youth abuse in downtown Oceanside. There are 102 registered sex offenders in the downtown corridor - that's registered only. But the city officials do nothing to fix the problem. It's the ostrich effect - it you ignore it, it doesnt exist. I've fought this for years here - bringing awareness to the area, feeding and clothing the kids, cleaning their wounds, listening to their stories and it was so go to hear your comments and see the Mayor and City Officials sweat it - at least for a day or two. Thank you Oprah!

Customer Complaint #1

(At the speaker)

Del: Hi, welcome to Del Taco, would you like to try our new tasty, Mexican Caeser salad, today?

RL: No, I don't.

Del: What?

RL: I said, "no I don't."

Del: Ok, what can I get you?

(Flash forward 5 minutes, at the window)

RL: (speaking calmly, in a friendly manner) Hi, can I tell you something to tell the manager? It's not personal but it's really starting to annoy me. Everyday when I pull up you ask me if I wanna try the new tasty Mexican Ceaser salad but I I tried it two months ago. I liked it. It's a nice salad. But I come here all the time, I know what I want. If the goal of this place is to make the customers happy then you should just ask them what they want right away cause I don't like pulling up and having conversations with you guys about Mexican salads. I just want to place my order. Know what I mean?

Del: Yeah, dude, it's annoying but we have to say it.

RL: I understand, but if the customers start complaining then maybe the manager will decide it's a bad idea and change the policy, right? The customer's always right, right?

Del: True, true!

RL: I'm not mad at you or anything.

Del; Oh, I know.

RL: You're a lovely person, I'm just telling you something to pass on to the manager.

Del: Ok, I will.

RL: Thank you. Thank you. I love you. Bye-bye!

Beached Bees

Me: So how was your jog?

Myself: It's not a jog, it's a walk.

Me: A crawl.

Myself: Exactly.

Me: How was it?

Myself: Lovely. Yesterday I saw a dead bird and today I saw dead bees.

Me: How many?

Myself: Three.

Me: Three too many.

Myself: Exactly.

Me: What does it mean?

Myself: I don't know but it makes me very nervous.

Me: As it should.

Myself: The only good bee is a live bee.

Me: And what are they doing on the beach?

Myself: Resting.

Me: Dying. They're dying. I've never seen three dying bees on the beach before.

Myself: Don't think about it. Just focus on your iPod. Don't think about bad things. Pretend the world is fine and ignore the bees.

Me: Good advice.

Myself: So what are you gonna do today?

Me: Have sex. See a movie.

Myself: That's what you did yesterday.

Me: I didn't see a movie.

Myself: What did you do?

Me: I don't recall. But it was a nice day.

Myself: Who did you have sex with?

Me: Don't ask. It wasn't good. For the last year I've been seeing...

Myself: Blowing...

Me: Something like that. Anyway, I've been blowing this surfer. Big dick. He always comes over before he surfs. Very nice guy but I've never been to his place before so last night he calls me at 2 am and invites me over. So I go...total straight boy-surfer apt...surfboards in the living room and all that...I go upstairs, he's waiting in bed and he can't get hard...he seemed a little drunk...he said he went to a concert in San Diego earlier. Then after 30 minutes he says, "do you ever do coke?"

Myself: Ugh.

Me: Disgusting.

Myself: Tell me. So gross. Coke? What is it 1980? Grow up people.

Me: So now I just want to leave. I have no patience for drugs of any kind. Even poppers turn me off.

Myself: What are poppers.

Me: Google it.

Myself: So what happened next.

Me: More grossness involving a toy and lube and he was smoking cigarettes, a big piece of ash fell on his chest...his perfect chest...but it was a bad scene.

Me: So he wanted a toy in his ass?

Myself: The whole thing was just not good. And I've seen him for a year. Very cool guy. I thought I knew him. I'm not surprised actually. A surfer who does coke, big shocker, right? But the next time he calls me at 2 AM I won't be going over.

Me: I just really wanted to hear about your jog.

Myself: Walk.

Me: Walk. I'm glad you're walking.

Myself: I figure the least I can do is take a brisk, 30 minute, 2 mile walk once a day, don't you think. I'm stuck at 270. I haven't lost weight in two months.

Me: Have you tried?

Myself: No. People keep coming to visit me. It's hard to eat right and exercise with guests here. So no more guests.

Me: Not for a while!

Myself: So what do you have planned this weekend?

Me: Movies, sex, Wal-Mart. What about you?

Myself: Same.

Me: Cool, have fun.

Myself: You, too. Be safe.

Me: Always! Ciao.

Five

Ronnie: Are you okay?

Man: I just always feel a little guilty after sex.

Ronnie: Oh.

Man: It's fine

Ronnie: You sure.

Man: Yep. This is pretty new for me. I guess you'd say I'm bi-curious.

Ronnie: How long you been doing it?

Man: Since I was 14.

Ronnie: And how old are you?

Man: 52.

Ronnie: Hmmmm. I wouldn't call you bi-curious I'd call you bi-experienced.

Man: I don't know what I am. I'm horny. What are you?

Ronnie: I'm gay.

Man: But do you ever go with women?

Ronnie: Not if I can help it.

Man: It's not your thing?

Ronnie: It's not my thing. But even if I fucked a 100 women I'd still call myself gay. I think we are what we say we are.

Man: Well, I'd rather fuck a pussy but I'll go with a guy.

Ronnie: So you're not attracted to guys? Like when you're at Wal-Mart you don't look at guys and say, "Oh, he's hot."

Man: Nope, never, I look at women. But I like being with guys. So...there ya go. I don't know.

Ronnie: Does your wife blow you?

Man: Once a week. Friday night. We sleep in separate rooms. She comes in once a week and blows me. That's it.

Ronnie: Do you have kids?

Man: Five.

Ronnie: Five?

Man: Five.

Ronnie: Wow, that's a lot. Are they good kids?

Man: Four are.

Ronnie: What about the fifth?

Man: Long story.

The Thing About Cake

Person: Why did you put this cake pic on your blog? It's very Marie Antoinette!

Ronnie: I meant to e-mail it to my gmail account but I sent to my blog instead but since I did send it to my blog I'd like to explain. I met a lady at a neighborhood BBQ. We talked for 10 minutes maybe. Very nice person. The next day, she knocks on the door and delivers this piece of cake to me! She barely knows me. And stuff like this happens to me in Oceanside all the time. I come home and there's a case of diet coke on my porch or my neighbor takes my car keys to move my car to avoid street-sweeping tickets. These kinds of things never happened to me in LA in NY. No neighbor ever knocked on my door to remind me to move my car. I never came home to gifts on my porch. It's all very interesting. At least to me.

That Darn Cat!

Ronnie: Why do you hiss at me?

Cat: I want food.

Ronnie: You could be nice.

Cat: I hiss, you give me food. It's been working fine for over a year.

Ronnie: I need more. I want to touch you. I need you to touch me.

Cat: Well that's not what I want.

Ronnie: Then buy your own food.

Cat: Don't be a hater.

Ronnie: The other cats let me pet 'em!

Cat: They're basically sluts.

Ronnie: They love me.

Cat: They don't love you, they use you! You should hear what they say about you behind your back.

Ronnie: What do they say?

Cat: They call you faggot.

Ronnie: No they don't.

Cat: Fine, they don't.

Ronnie: Which one calls me faggot? The black one?

Cat: All of them. They all say, "Let's go to the faggots house for free food."

Ronnie: I don't believe you.

Cat: A true friend is one who tells you the truth, whether it's pretty or not!

Ronnie: Are you a cat or a fortune cookie?

Cat: I'm a little of both. That is my gift and my curse.

Ronnie: What the fuck does that mean?

Back to Bakersfield

I was there last weekend for a High School Reunion party and I'm going back tomorrow for three days to help my Dad move into his new home with his new wife. I don't care for her at all and my Dad knows it. But my Dad is a saint and I can't say no to him and he needs my help so back to Bako I go. I might blog from my phone. Maybe.

I'm looking forward to not travelling for a while. The last 3 months have been filled with non-stop activity; moving, reunions, weddings, blah blah blah. It's been fun but I'm done. I'll be back in Oceanside on Saturday and after that I'll be for quite a while. No more trips, no more house guests and no more distractions! It's time to get back to work! I'm too young to be retired. LOL

Have a great Wednesday!

Cats and Coons

This is the sad story of an angry and damaged cat. I've been feeding it for a year and half and it treats me like shit. Reminds me of some actors I worked with, but I digress. It comes by every night for dinner but will it let me touch it? No! It hisses at me if I get too close. Sometimes it hisses at me as way of reminding me it's dinner time. So rude. I keep thinking that one day the cat will let me in but if it hasn't happened after 18 months, I doubt it will. And now the other stray cats come over for dinner and they are all super friendly and they even come in the house but the sad bitchy cat still doesn't trust me. Sometime the cats hiss at each other over who has the right to eat the cat food I put out.

And recently there are a few slugs that must be able to smell the cat food cause after I put it out they start slithering up the wall to the porch and they crawl right into the cat food bowl.

It's craziness!

And now we've added a cat-food-loving raccoon to the mix. Did you know raccoons eat with their hands. Anyway, the raccoon reaches right into the bowl and scoops up the cat food.

And last night one of the cats chased the raccoon back into the bushes.

The raccoon is only slightly afraid of me. I want to befriend the raccoon but I know that's a fools errand. I was telling my big-city-friend Joseph about it and he says, "Raccoons? Aren't those the ones with big black eyes? I only know that because models aren't supposed to have raccoon eyes!" You big city folk crack my country ass up!

So below is a list of all the animals I've encountered since moving to my neighborhood in Oceanside.

Cats
Dogs
Raccoons
Sparrows
Crows
Hummingbirds
Dolphins
Squirrels
Sea Lions
Seals
Fish
Jellyfish
Pelicans
Seagulls
Fish
Spiders
Flies
Dragonflies
Cockroaches
Moths
Slugs
Possums

I'm sure there are more but I've forgotten. I always wanted to live on a farm and I think I may have gotten my wish.

Tragedy in my Backyard

This happened 100 yards off shore of where I live. I heard the helicopters all day and saw the Coast Guard ships from my living room window. My neighbor works with the parents of the boy. Very sad. So sad. His body is still out there, floating around in the cold, murky water. A life vest might have prevented it, too. Imagine, your 18 year old son says goodbye, jumps on a jet ski and 30 minutes later he's dead. Fucking horrifying. Life is so short, my friends. Spend it wisely. And wear your life vests.

_____

OCEANSIDE ---- A search continued until late Thursday for a missing teenager who slipped away from his brother after they collided on their SeaDoos a day earlier.

"He kept mumbling, 'I had ahold of my brother and I let him go,'" said Oceanside lifeguard Capt. Bill Curtis.

The search for 19-year-old Sean Carter, a 2006 graduate of Vista High School, continued Thursday. Authorities scanned the ocean without success from Wisconsin Street, where the two damaged watercraft washed ashore Wednesday, to the spot near the Oceanside Municipal Pier where a surfer pulled Sean's brother, Doug Carter, 21, from the water.

For a second day, darkness forced the searchers to leave the water.

Doug Carter was treated and released from Tri-City Medical Center on Wednesday afternoon, said Espy Enriquez. A longtime friend of the family, Enriquez listened Wednesday night as the older brother told the story to friends.

Efforts by reporters to reach the family were unsuccessful. Enriquez, whose children grew up with the brothers, said Doug told him the brothers were riding on a pair of watercraft near the Oceanside pier when they crashed head-on.

She described Sean as outgoing and Doug as more of a quiet introvert.

Carter told his friends the impact of the collision knocked both of them from their SeaDoos, Enriquez said. Doug Carter swam to his unconscious brother and tried to hold him above the surface, Enriquez said.

"(Doug) was holding on to (Sean's) hand but neither had a life vest on and the weight was pulling them both down," Enriquez said. "He told his friends he let go of (Sean's) hand and saw him go down."

There were no witnesses to the crash, Curtis said. A private helicopter pilot flying in the area spotted the brothers in the water at about 12:20 p.m. Wednesday and radioed for help. Before lifeguards could arrive, surfer David Keck was able to pull Doug Carter onto his surfboard. The Oceanside resident said he paddled toward the helicopter and saw what looked like an arm and a head sticking out of the water. Drawing closer, he saw a young man who looked "pale and exhausted."

The outing was the first time that the brothers had gone out on separate watercraft, Enriquez said.

"They were really excited about going out," she said. "Their dad had just bought a second SeaDoo."

Enriquez has worked with the brothers' mother, Suzann Carter, at Oceans 11 casino for 11 years. Their father also works at the casino.

Curtis said neither brother was wearing a flotation device. Curtis said the boys' father said he tried to get them to return to the dock to put on vests.

State law requires anyone on a personal watercraft to wear a floatation device.

Curtis said Doug Carter told rescuers that both brothers were wearing wet suits. The lifeguard captain added that it should have provided some buoyancy.

On Wednesday, a U.S. Navy hovercraft joined U.S. Coast Guard and San Diego Sheriff's Department helicopters and lifeguards from Oceanside, Carlsbad and Encinitas in a six-hour search that was finally suspended at dusk.

Six lifeguards searched by boat and the department's watercraft for the missing teen as Oceanside Police scanned the surf from shore.

An orange buoy marked the spot Thursday where searchers found a "kill switch" from a personal watercraft floating on the surface about 200 yards offshore.

The size of the search area and strong wind and water currents deterred plans to send divers into the water, Curtis said.

A fund to assist the family has been started. Donations may be sent to Oceans 11 Casino, c/o Bob Moyer, 121 Brooks St., Oceanside 92054.

Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow

It's been months since I've had a haircut. Twice, since moving to Oceanside, have I driven up to LA to get my haircut but I knew it was time to find a local person. I tried one of those military chop-shops and they didn't even know how to cut civilian hair. So, today, I drove by a hole-in-wall place next to the Post Office but decided to pass and keep on driving. Just like Celine Dion, I drove all night, 4 more miles then suddenly I turned the car around and headed back to the hole-in-the-wall hair salon.

I was greeted with open arms by Carmen.

She spoke not-a-word-of-English but handed me a book, I pointed to picture of an Asian guy with nice hair and the cutting began.

In the famous opera, Carmen abandons her lover for a bullfighter. I hope that doesn't happen to me. Carmen is my new best friend.

Went home and got rid of more hair....

I feel sexy again. LOL Thank you, Carmen!

I thought it would be amusing to hang a Bait Shop sign outside my window but now some people think I'm really running a bait shop. Last night a guy comes over and with a totally straight-face asks, "do you really sell bait?"

Memento and Christopher Nolan

It took me a week to get through Memento on DVD but I really, really liked it. I hate watching movies at home. I don't concentrate and/or fall asleep. I'm always on the computer so I sort of half-watch the TV. For instance, right now I'm watching The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance. John Wayne is so good, I love him and Jimmy Stewart is great as always but I'm not really watching it. I'm sort of listening to it. But you can't watch Memento that way, so I had to focus on it and I kept falling asleep, but I really did like it. And Christopher Nolan is a huge, fucking talent; Memento, Batman Begins, The Prestige, these are VERY entertaining films and I'm incredibly excited about the next Batman movie. I wish I could say the same about Spiderman.

It's fitting to be writing about Memento tonight, a film about tattoos, because as I write this, my neighbor is getting a big tattoo in his living room by a travelling tattoo artist. His living room has been transformed into a temporary tattoo parlor. Chemicals, tinfoil, blood, bright lights, it's creepy but exciting. Hi house looks like a David Fincher production. I keep going over to see the progress. The last time I went over, the tattooer was putting on a rubber glove and opening a jar of Vaseline. I said, "how funny, I was just doing the same thing in my own apt. less than an hour ago. If you run out of Vaseline, lemme know."

PS Does John Wayne say "pilgrim" in every movie? And the lighting in Liberty Valance is beautiful. It's like a film-noir-western. I must see more John Ford films.

4 Dolphins Shot to Death in Calif.

This is disgusting! These are the very dolphins that swim by house. What kind of piece of shit-human-being could shoot a dolphin?
LOS ANGELES (AP) - Four dead dolphins have washed ashore with fatal bullet wounds and fifth with lacerations on its pectoral fin, said authorities who have offered a reward for information on the slayings.

The long-beaked common dolphins were all discovered between Carlsbad State Beach and Oceanside Harbor between May 29 and June 5. Photos showed their normally sleek gray skin mottled and stained with blood from the bullet wounds.

"It's a horrendous thing that happened," said Mark Oswell, spokesman for the National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration. "That someone would go out there and shoot four dolphins."

Necropsies revealed that the dolphins, which were healthy with bellies full of fish, may have been shot at the same time with the same gun. Four had between one and three bullets of the same caliber in the same part of their heads.

Federal officials say that nationwide, they normally get one report of a dolphin shooting a year. The last time San Diego reported such a death was five years ago. Before that there hadn't been one in the area since the 1960s.

"It usually turns out to be a fisherman," said Oswell, adding there have been cases when anglers take out their frustrations on dolphins and other mammals that eat their catch.

The agency is offering up to $2,500 for information on the deaths. If caught, the perpetrator could face civil penalties of up to $12,000 or a criminal fine of up to $20,000, as well as jail time.

Harassing or killing dolphins is a violation of the Marine Mammal Protection Act of 1972, a federal law that protects seals, sea lions, dolphins, whales and other marine mammals.

Good Booth, Bad Booth

A "fan" took the time to draw me a map of a local dirty bookstore. He even took time to rate the booths. I have such thoughtful people in my life! This is for the F Street Bookstore in Escondido. They sell more dildos than books but you can't really call yourself a Dildostore.
