1408 is basically a play with amazing special effects. One man, alone in a hotel room for an hour, being attacked by ghosts, furnishings and bad weather. John Cusack does a very good job and the film never lags. I was completely involved the entire time, thank God!

The movie is a good, effective thriller.
But I liked it better the first time I saw a Stephen King movie about a haunted hotel room that turns the tenants crazy.
It was called THE SHINING!
