David Duchovny, Sex Addict

David Duchovny Rehabbing for Sex Addiction
Natalie Finn
Thu Aug 28, 4:21 PM ET
Los Angeles (E! Online) - The truth is out there, whether we want it or not.

David Duchovny has checked into rehab to undergo treatment for sex addiction, E! News has confirmed.

"I have voluntarily entered a facility for the treatment of sex addiction," Duchovny said in a statement released Thursday by his attorney, Stanton "Larry" Stein. "I ask for respect and privacy for my wife and children as we deal with this situation as a family."

The 48-year-old X-Files star—who, ironically, won a Golden Globe this year for playing an over-sexed struggling writer on Showtime's Californication—has been married to Téa Leoni since May 1997. They have two children together, daughter Madelaine West, 9, and son Kyd Miller, 6.

"All of us at Showtime wish David and his family the best during this very private time," Richard Licata, the network's executive VP of Corporate Communications, said in a statement to E! News.

The second season of Californication, premiering Sept. 28, finished shooting late last month and 12 episodes are ready to go.

Though it may have been awhile, this isn't the first time Duchovny's sex life has turned into a talking point.

"I'm not a sex addict," he said in an interview with Playgirl in 1997. "I have never been to those meetings. It's hurtful to my family and if I was involved with a woman in a monogamous relationship, it would be hurtful to her.

"There was another story claiming I was a neat freak. If I had to choose one of the two, I think I'd rather be a sex addict. It's not funny and I'll be glad when it goes away."

Uncomfortably enough, Leoni herself quashed a rumor that her hubby was afflicted with a sex addiction back in May of 1998, telling Elle that she found the notion "very exciting."

"David was accused of being a sex addict," Leoni, who had been married for one year at that point, said. "Which I always found very exciting. And then I found out it wasn't true."

"Men are like bulls," she continued. "They gotta get the new cow. Maybe you've got to get the bull after he's had a lot of cows, so you might just be the last new one."

I'm Moving to Persia!

Jake Gyllenhaal is the Shirtless Prince of Persia
MON, 11 AUGUST 2008 AT 4:10 PM

Jake Gyllenhaal channels his inner brute and shows off his newly buff body on the set of his latest movie, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, in Morocco, North Africa on Monday morning.

The 27-year-old actor, who has an entire mane of hair now, held hands with his actress girlfriend Reese Witherspoon. The couple spent the the weekend at the exclusive luxury Moroccan hotel Amanjena. Gyllenspoon grabbed lunch on Saturday at a Moroccan restaurant followed by a tour of the local sights.

In the film, Jake will play Dastan, a young prince in sixth century Persia who must join forces with Tamina (Gemma Arterton), a feisty and exotic princess, to prevent a villainous nobleman from possessing the Sands of Time, a gift from the gods that can reverse time and allow its possessor to rule the world.

Maureen Dowd Nails It!

She's got a great Op-Ed in the Times today. This paragraph is especially sharp.

"For some reason, super-strivers have a need to sell what is secretly weakest about themselves, as if they yearn for unmasking. Edwards’s decency and concern for the weak in society — except for his own wife. Bill Clinton’s intellect and love of community — except for his stupidity and destructiveness about Monica. Bush the Younger’s jocular, I’m-in-charge self-confidence — except for turning over his presidency, as no president ever has, to his Veep. Eliot Spitzer’s crusade for truth, justice and the American way — except at home."

Ouch!

Brady Quinn is NOT gay!!!!

But he sure is HOT!!!

I guess theres some little scandal about NFL Quarterback, Brady Quinn and a gay dating site using his likeness without permission. Google Brady Quinn and you get a slew of sexy images and some of them are VERY gay even though Quinn has made it clear, he is NOT gay, even though one of the pics shows him pretending to suck a dick. Remember, he is NOT gay! He's just HOT! Enjoy the pics. Oh, and in another pic he;s wearing a pink shirt and touching another guys crotch, but he is NOT gay!

PS I saw The Dark Knight for the 4th time today. It's becoming a bit of an obsession.

Sex and the Shitty!

The ONLY thing I liked about Sex and the City was the fascinating wedding dress by Vivienne Westwood! Now comes word she didn't much care for the movie either!

"Westwood: 'Sex Movie Is Dull'

20 June 2008 12:10 AM, PDT

Legendary fashion designer Vivienne Westwood is not a fan of Sex And The City: The Movie, branding the film's fashion styling uninspiring and "quite dull".

The designer, 67, is name-checked in the film and even created the dress worn by Sarah Jessica Parker's fashionista character Carrie on her wedding day.

But Westwood insists she was far from impressed with stylist Patricia Field's work on the big screen adaptation of the hit TV series.

She says, "I thought Sex And The City was supposed to be about cutting-edge fashion and there was nothing remotely memorable or interesting about what I saw.

"I went to the premiere and left after ten minutes."

Fuck me, Patrick Duffy!

Patrick Duffy is one of those actors that I know zero about. I just know that he's a punchline on South Park. I couldn't tell you one thing he ever did. So thank you, Bill O'Reilly, for running a segment on Patrick Duffy and for showing this hot clip of him drying off on the set of Dallas. Now I know Patrick Duffy was on Dallas and he was fucking HOT! And thanks to the power of Tivo, I got this sexy-ass screen shot for you all. Enjoy!

Very Sad News

This was just sent to me from my good friend, Billy Masters of BillyMasters.com

IN a sad story, we ask all readers to pray for opera legend Beverly Sills. Two weeks ago, Sills had a routine check-up and was diagnosed with inoperable brain cancer and given about a month to live. Amazingly, this woman went home and calmly started getting things in order for her children, along with taking care of other personal affairs. All the while, she told virtually no one of her diagnosis and prognosis.

That all changed a week ago, when she fell and broke two ribs. Hospitalized and in excruciating pain, doctors discovered that the cancer had spread to her thyroid, lymphnodes and lungs - as expected. From her hospital, she is still fighting, trying to make provisions for her daughter Muffy who lives with her, and battle some step-kids who are already sniffing around the estate.

A horrible kind of situation to bring you as an exclusive, but there you go. We'll keep you posted.

Tony Awards Part 2: Tom Hulce

I am NOT making fun of Tom Hulce. I LOVED Hulce in Amadeus. I still remember the Bakersfield movie theater I saw it in. I remember walking out and being blown away by the film. I'm thrilled Hulce won a Tony as a producer last night. But I'd be lying if said I wasn't intrigued by his physical transformation. Amadeus was a long time ago but NOT THAT LONG...well, 1984...23 years ago. Now he looks like he's ready to play King Lear. Maybe he will, maybe he should. I'd buy a ticket...as long as they produce it in Oceanside.

Tony (not Soprano)

I loved the Tony's last night. The show felt tight. The winners seemed overjoyed. The numbers were appealing. The video montages were well put together. I just thoroughly enjoyed the whole evening. I don't really understand Spring Awakening but I've never been interested in shows about teen angst unless they're written by Shakespeare. And Coast of Utopia looks beautiful but I ain't sitting thru no 9 hour show no matter how many awards it gets. BUT, I really enjoyed the Tony show. My favorite comment of the night was Duncan Sheik referring to the "casualities" left behind during the production process. Creating theater is often a very ugly business and that's the one thing you don't hear while watching the Tony awards so I found the Duncan Sheik comment refreshingly honest. I was reminded, too, how "unbeautiful" stage actors look in close-up. Of course, there are no close-ups in the theater so stage actors don't have to be beautiful; they just have to have faces that communicate. So did the awards show make me want to jump on a plane and go see a Broadway show? No. Well, maybe a little. And that's a start.

Passport to Sexyville

Last week, Caryn Horwitz had to get a new passport photo and she sent me the before and after pics. I think the first one looks like Chastity Bono and the second one looks like Billy Idol but she swears they're both her. I didn't know you had to get a passport to go to Sexyville but clearly that's where she's headed.

Heaven Help Me!

I just woke up from a nap, a nightmare actually. In this nightmare I was penetrating Lindsay Lohan with a lavender dildo; one of those plastic/acrylic dildos with grooves. It was extremely long and she took the whole thing. I could go into more graphic detail but I wouldn't want to put anymore of this horrifying imagery into your head. I don't even care about Lohan, not one bit. I certainly have no interest in her vagina. I'm not interested in the vagina, period! No pun intended. And is she over 18??? I just checked, she was born in 1986, whew! Man, I'm so grossed out right now! I'm afraid to go back to sleep. So afraid.

The Cars

All the traffic today is on the freeway and not to this blog so I'm posting for you few lonely shut-ins that have nowhere to go but the Internet. Miss Horwitz has descended on Casa de Oceanside but is she hanging out with me? No, the bitch is at the gym. She's obsessed. OBSESSED! Last night we took a lovely walk on the beach at 2 AM and collected lots of intact seashells. My straight neighbor is having a BBQ and he keeps trying to get me to eat one of his hot dogs. "Ronnie, it looks like a penis! Just eat it." I love having straight men beg me to eat their hot dogs!

Now see how it goes! I try to start a nice little post about Memorial Day Weekend and it all ends up a slutty mess with references to straight men and dick. I can't help myself. I apologize.

And speaking of obsession. I can't stop listing to Drive by the Cars. Or is it just Cars? If the name of the band is Cars does one say, "I'm listening to Drive by Cars. That doesn't sound right. Hmmmm. Now I'm perplexed. You wouldn't say, "I'm listening to Hungry Like the Wolf by the Duran Duran. So I guess I'm listening to Drive by Cars.

Update: It's The Cars.

I actually saw Ric Ocasek once in the Village. We passed each other and he looked EXACTLY like he does in the music videos. He's a very odd looking human. And I suspect he likes it that way.

Excerpt from Ocasek Interview:

Do you remember where you were the first time you heard a Muzak version of a Cars song?

It was "Drive" and I was in an elevator [laughs]. I heard the London symphony do "Drive" [also], and that was weird.

Click here and you can listen as well and sing along with the lyrics I've provided.

Drive

Who's gonna tell you when,
It's too late,
Who's gonna tell you things,
Aren't so great.

You cant go on, thinkin',
Nothings' wrong, but bye,
Who's gonna drive you home,
tonight.?

Who's gonna pick you up,
When You fall?
Who's gonna hang it up,
When you call?

Who's gonna pay attention,
To your dreams?
And who's gonna plug their ears,
When you scream?

You can't go on, thinkin'
Nothings wrong, but bye,
(who's gonna drive you)
(who's gonna drive you)
Who's gonna drive you home, tonight?
(who's gonna drive you home)

(bye baby)
(bye baby)
(bye baby)
(bye baby)

Who's gonna hold you down,
When you shake?
Who's gonna come around,
When you break?

You can't go on, thinkin',
Nothin's wrong, but bye,
(Who's gonna drive you)
(who's gonna drive you)
Who's gonna drive you home, tonight?
(who's gonna drive you home)

Oh, you know you can't go on, thinkin',
Nothin's wrong,
(Who's gonna drive you)
(Who's gonna drive you home)
Who's gonna drive you home, tonight?

(bye baby)
(bye baby)
(bye baby)

Shut the fuck up you fat homo.

I don't know why but, "Shut the fuck up you fat homo", is the comment that I most enjoy. Maybe because it reminds me of things my ex-boyfriend use to way while we were making love.

Anyway.

I report, you decide.

On the Bill O'Reilly show last night, guest Megyn Kelly makes a very unfunny joke about a rape victim losing out on all ends because not only was she raped but it only lasted two minutes. I'm not making this up. It needs to be seen to be believed. And did Bill O'Reilly call her on it? Absolutely not. They both just pretend it wasn't said. But then O'Reilly moves on to the next segment and discusses the rape jokes made on the Opie and Anthony Show. But, Bill, what about the rape joke you just ignored on your own show. I actually like Bill O'Reilly but this is all too deliciously ironic to pass up. It will be interesting to see if this story goes anywhere. Well, at least it will be on YouTube. God bless, YouTube!

The Next Jennifer?

First there was Jennifer Holliday, then came Jennifer Hudson and now comes Ronnie Larsen. Should he change his name to Jennifer. Does he earn a place in the pantheon next to those two legends? Watch his version of "And I Am Telling You, I'm Not Going" from one of his favorite musicals, Dreamgirls, and decide for yourself if the the next great "Jennifer" has finally arrived.

Shut Up and Sing

Shut up and Sing focuses on the controversy surrounding a comment the Dixie Chicks made about George W. Bush. The "controversy" is much ado about nothing but I found the documentary fascinating because I find all documentaries fascinating (even bad ones) and I find the Dixie Chicks fascinating. I'm fascinated by their ordinariness. I love insane pop stars as much as anyone but from a distance, please. Could you imagine having dinner with Madonna or Michael Jackson or Ozzy Osbourne? No thank you! But watching Shut Up and Sing felt like hanging out with a cool neighbor or listening to a friendly waitress who just also happens to be a famous pop star involved in a global controversy.

Lately, I find myself attracted to the simple concepts in country music. I've always loved white trash stuff; county fairs, truck stops, trailer parks, Wal-Mart. These days, my life has never been simpler, in fact I'm obsessed with seeing how simple it can get and the Dixie Chicks remind me to keep it simple. I'm sort of obsessed with their hit song, Cowboy Take Me Away. In fact, I'm listening to it right now; it's a beautiful song. So watch Shut Up and Sing! I know I'm rambling, but that's what us Cowboys do, we ramble.

Click here to listen to Cowboy Take Me Away

I've provided the lyrics so you can sing along.

I said I wanna touch the earth
I wanna break it in my hands
I wanna grow something wild and unruly

I wanna sleep on the hard ground
In the comfort of your arms
On a pillow of bluebonnets
In a blanket made of stars

Oh it sounds good to me I said

Cowboy take me away
Fly this girl as high as you can
Into the wild blue
Set me free oh I pray
Closer to heaven above and
Closer to you closer to you

I wanna walk and not run
I wanna skip and not fall
I wanna look at the horizon
And not see a building standing tall

I wanna be the only one
For miles and miles
Except for maybe you
And your simple smile

Oh it sounds good to me
Yes it sounds so good to me

Cowboy take me away
Fly this girl as high as you can
Into the wild blue
Set me free oh I pray
Closer to heaven above and
Closer to you closer to you

I said I wanna touch the earth
I wanna break it in my hands
I wanna grow something wild and unruly
Oh it sounds so good to me

Cowboy take me away
Fly this girl as high as you can
Into the wild blue
Set me free oh I pray
Closer to heaven above and
Closer to you closer to you
Closer to you
Cowboy take me away.
Closer to you

And I Am Telling You

The great theater song And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going, is both a blessing and curse. If you sing it well, audiences will love you and leap to their feet and give you awards. But if you sing it too well, if you make too big a mark with it, if you really own it, it will own you as well. Jennifer Holliday who basically "created" the song has never escaped it's grasp and now it seems LaKisha has suffered the same fate. Nothing Lakisha sang on American Idol equalled the power of her singing "that song" in an early episode. She blew us away when she sang it but then everything since has been a letdown. Lakisha's journey on Idol is a mirror of the career of Jennifer Holiday and possibly Jennifer Hudson, who won an Oscar for singing it. It will be interesting to see if unlike Jenifer Holliday, Lakisha and Hudson can escape the pull of that powerful song, but I have my doubts. Will Hudson and Lakisha ever sing anywhere again without audiences begging to hear that song just one more time? My advice to Melinda Doolittle: never sing that song. Whatever you do, never sing that song!

Next

Expectation is half the battle. Today was free popcorn Tuesday. I love free popcorn Tuesday but the only two movies playing today that I would even consider seeing were Next and Invisible. The trailer for Next looked horrible and I really didn't want to see it but I went anyway, just to get my free popcorn and I actually had a fabulous time. I imagined I'd be walking out after 30 minutes but I was totally engrossed from the beginning.

Next is basically Groundhog Day rewritten as an action movie. It's about life and the choices we make to affect the future. Imagine being able to see 2 minutes in to the future and making decisions based on that information, that's the premise.

The only people in the theater were me and a couple. During the opening credits when Nicolas Cage's name popped up on the screen, the young woman loudly exclaimed, "Nicolas Cage?!?!?!?" She was beside herself with excitement. I'm always intrigued by people who buy movie tickets without knowing anything about the movie. They know they want to see it but they know NOTHING about it! Imagine seeing Spiderman 3 and yelling out during the credits, "Tobey Maguire!?!?!?!"

And another thing, why is Jessica Biel suddenly in every movie? I don't understand.

Jane Fonda,

You're breaking my heart. I just saw you on Letterman. I'm in love with you. I find you totally fascinating and captivating. You talked about battling bears in your house and cougars and fly-fishing. You told the audience how good sex can be at 70. You were wearing a shirt made of milk and pants made of hemp. "Drink my top and smoke my bottom", you said! I've missed you all these years. You should never have retreated from public life and movie-making.

But now you're back and making movies I can barely sit through. That Jennifer Lopez thing was a disaster and Georgia Rule looks even worse. Please make movies without Lindsay Lohan and Jennifer Lopez. Please make more movies like The China Syndrome. Please. I'm begging.
