Mexico Gets It Right

Yesterday Mexico decriminalized the possession of, well, everything.

Mexico enacted a controversial law on Thursday decriminalizing possession of small amounts of marijuana, cocaine, heroin and other drugs while encouraging government-financed treatment for drug dependency free of charge. The law sets out maximum "personal use" amounts for drugs, also including LSD and methamphetamine. People detained with those quantities will no longer face criminal prosecution; the law goes into effect on Friday. Anyone caught with drug amounts under the personal-use limit will be encouraged to seek treatment, and for those caught a third time treatment is mandatory — although no penalties for noncompliance are specified. Mexican authorities said the change only recognized the longstanding practice here of not prosecuting people caught with small amounts of drugs.

No criminal charges for personal use and free government treatment for addicts. In Mexico. And how many Americans are in prison here with third-strike life sentences for possession?

i can't take it....i literally can't take it....i just saw a right-wing crazy lady talking about her husband not having health care and yet she opposes "government health care." it boggles the motherfucking mind! Seniors, WHO HAVE GOVERNMENT RUN HEALTH CARE, are complaining that they don;t want the "goverment to take over their health care!" i literally have never heard such insanity before in this country. i can't recall a more bizarre debate.  The VA system, everyone agrees, is one of the best health care programs in the country and IT'S A GOVERNMENT PROGRAM! The same right-wing nuts who supported the iraq war and all our tax money going to that are now opposing money being spent on their OWN FUCKING HEALTH CARE! This is literal insanity. Prisoners get health care for fucks sake! I don;t see them protesting that!!!!!!  I literally can not even get my mind around what is going on in this absurd country. i'm spending lots of time in mexico and for a country that gets nothing but negative press....well let me tell you, you CAN get affordable health care and dental care here and you CAN buy prescription drugs at a fair price and no emergency room is gonna send you a 4,000 bill for a two hour visit. these people are crazy. they don;t even know what they're protesting they are just protesting cause they hate democrats. if it was the same bill, pushed forward by Bush, they'd be endorsing it. sad sad sad sad sad sad....SAD!  SO FUCKING SAD. it all reminds me of joe the plumber freaking out that oboma would take all his money and then it turns out joe the plumber HAD NO FUCKING MONEY! Who brainwashes these mother fuckers??? seriously? it's shocking! and ALL these polticians, republican and democrats equally, ALL OF THEM HAVE FIRST RATE HEALTH INSURANCE!  That's the other hilarious joke, ALL THE POLITICIANS HAVE GREAT HEALTH CARE PLANS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ALL OF THEM! But most the protestors probably don't have insurance or GOOD INSURANCE and yet the protest....it's fucking insanity!
